Ants Marching

“Ants Marching” is a deeply personal body of work that tells the author’s own story. It explores themes such as relationships, personal choices, social expectations, loss, conflict, chance, and how events like illness or decisions can alter the course of life.
The work consists of thousands of segments cut from porcelain coils and applied one next to the other. This methodical repetition is akin to a mantra, evoking a sense of meditation. “Objets trouvés” are incorporated alongside porcelain, these include old picture frames, benches, cabinets, mirrors, books, textiles and other small items found in the homes of the artist’s parents and grandparents. Restored and integrated into the artwork, they evoke a sense of home, care, healing, intimacy and memories.
